For his Eagle service project, Eagle Scout Chris Mattison planted grass and landscaping shrubs and trees at Chelsea Church of the Nazarene. Timing for this project was critical because the church's occupancy permit was contingent upon completion of the project. Chris recruited a large group of Boy Scouts, Venturers, parisioners, family and friends to work over several days to complete this important project, which required a high level of coordination and planning.

Troop 425 scouts donated hats, gloves, mittens and socks to Faith in Action in December, 2006. This Chelsea organization provides food, clothing, transportation, financial assistance and many support services to those who need it in the Dexter/Chelsea area.

Our Scouts directed parking for hundreds of visitors during Waterloo Area Historical Society's Pioneer Days in October 2006 at Waterloo Farm Museum. This is their main fundraising event of the year!

Eagle Scout Zach Green led Troop 425 scouts and leaders in building a fire ring and wood shelter at the Dr. Burt R. Shurly Camp on North Lake. This addition will provide a substantial improvement to the camping experience of economically disadvantaged Detroit children. The camp is operated by the Detroit Public Schools and receives very little financial support. Zach worked extensively with staff to develop a complete project plan, incorporated design adjustments during the course of the project, and coordinated the work of many volunteers over several weekends.

Chelsea Scouts supported Chelsea Kiwanis by selling popcorn and beverages in the bleachers during the evening events at the Chelsea Fair in August, 2006. Along with other area units, Troop 425 makes this an annual event to support our Charter Organization.

Our troop helped stock the pantry for Chelsea's Faith in Action during April's Scouting for Food drive. We solicited food donations from every house in the city, which was sorted and stored in the pantry for distribution to needy area residents!

We meet Mondays at 7:00 pm at the Chelsea Rod and Gun Club
